Smoke This!
Sunday was the perfect fall day. Clear and crisp, with a warm sun shining down on us through the cool air. It was also the perfect day for East Cambridge’s Smoke This Rib Fest. One of the things I am ashamed to admit is that certain parts of Cambridge and pretty much all of Somerville confuse me. Unless it’s right on the T, I have no idea how to get there. So the Mr. and I took a cab to this event only to find out we could have walked!

We arrived to the tell tale smoke in the air and the awesome scent of charred meat wafting down the street, which was blocked off to traffic giving it a fun little block party vibe.

Waiting in line for our first rib!

Oooo … look at that sauce!!

Looks so yummy! I took my first bite only to get a mouthful of hair at the same time. And then, while I tried to get the sticky sauce out of my hair, I DROPPED the entire thing on the ground! Ugh! And I pouted. Big time.

But there were more!

Lots, lots more!

Side note: Who on earth would think this sign attracts customers?

This one was a meal in and of itself. Portuguese style, it came with chorizo, chicken and beans!

East Side Bar had been the festival goer’s favorite for two years running and, my word, did they pull it all out!

They had this huge smoker grill parked in front of their bar.

And an outdoor beer garden next door serving Harpoon. They even had a DJ in a tux who sang his own songs!

Some places ran out of their ribs before we got in their line but offered other goodies like this yummy looking chicken dish from Ole.

So many ribs!

Pretty Things had an outdoor beer garden. This sign was made completely of felt cut-outs — a little too Portlandia hipstery for my taste.

Our second to last rib was pretty tasty.

And the last rib? I pretty much just licked off the BBQ sauce. Too many ribs!

And guess what? We walked home!
