The Magenta Chicken Project

Anyone else notice a disturbance in the force this week? Everyone and everything seemed to be cranked up to extremes. Maybe our space jumper set something off. (I still haven’t recovered from watching that live, by the way!) Luckily I had a fun project to distract me this week.

I mentioned that I am taking the online course, Blogging Your Way Boot Camp. On Monday we received our weekly assignment and it made my inner kindergartner — the one who got in trouble for coloring her chickens magenta — squeal with delight!

We were asked to create a mood board that represents what our blog is about! Inside, I responded like this. I haven’t done a collage project since I was pledging a sorority (er … we’ll talk about that later.) I’m really happy with the end result. It conveys what I want this space to be — just one big sparkly fun summer of a blog! The details …

One of my sacred disco balls, my aura photo, a kitschy octopus ring, fun striped washi tape.

Stamps from Elise Blaha, sequins, mini flag, Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies membership sticker, custom Juniper Disco wall decal from Spoonflower, rock I found in Ptown.

Tin of small shells, starfish, and coral I’ve found on the beach, custom Jamaica coasters from Crab Apple Designs, festive hat sticker from Target, heart rock I found in Ptown.

Chevron ribbon, Look at My Shoes necklace, weathered bits of pottery I found on the beach in Positano, Italy, water print.

Shell I found in Jamaica, tiny fortune was a gift from a friend.

Elise Blaha stamp, my Couples Negril baggage tag from our first trip there.

Close-up of the Positano pottery bits.

Cocktail monkey, ocean-themed gift tags, and the “magic bracelet” from Club Med that started our love for all-inclusive resorts.

Seaglass I found, cocktail umbrella, cocktail stirrer, tiny yellow fish.

Glitter from Martha Stewart, hats from my designer toy collection.

Paper glasses from The Hipstery.

Diving belle, small sample of my black and white striped rock collection.

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to do this. It was really fun!
