Salem: The Witch City *part two

Our trip to Salem continues! Yesterday I shared with you the historical part of the city. The other side — the creepy, the kitschy, the witchy — draws thousands of people every year for Halloween. I love that the whole town gets into it! People are walking around in costume, or at least in witch hats, and the homes are decorated with elaborate displays. Here are a few of the highlights …

The Good Dementor. (I LOVE THIS! So creative!)

Fall decorations line the sign posts up and down the streets.

Pirates — it’s a maritime city, too!

“Do you want to take a ride with a creepy guy?” We thought about it.

Some witch yelled at me when I took this photo of her witch hat creations! Boo.

The Mr. completely lost me when I got distracted by this green sparkly skull. LOVE!

Ooooo … there’s another one!

The Mr. attempts to blend in.

Halloween decorations are everywhere! I LOVE this one!

We staked out this yard display several times, waiting for the vomit to come. And we finally got it!

Fabulous!

And beyond the ghoulish, there was the kitschy. Wonderful, glorious, gaudy kitsch! LOVE!

And this is what happens when you accidentally set your ISO on 3200 on a sunny day!

But your iPhone comes through!

There are still a few weekends left of Haunted Happenings. Boston Harbor Cruises runs the ferry from Long Wharf. Don’t forget your witch hat!
