Random No. 8
The randomness on my mind lately …

Solange’s new video for “Losing You” — This proves once and for all that younger sisters are always cooler. (My favorite part is at 3:14.)

My new remote control colored light bulb — I just added this awesome colored light bulb to my Ikea Fado lamp in the Juniper Disco Lounge and am loving changing the colors from across the room. So far, purple is my favorite!

Flight — Before I start, watch the trailer if you haven’t seen it yet, here. Go ahead. I’ll wait. …. Watched it? One word. OH-HELL-NO! And stop giving me new things to worry about!

Joe Hill’s Cloud Atlas Book Club — Speaking of movies coming out, David Mitchell’s Cloud Atlas has been made into a movie that is being released in a few weeks. Joe Hill (you know, author of one of my favorite comic book series, Locke and Key. Oh right, he’s also Stephen King’s son) is doing a book club over on twitter (#bigreadalong) and on his blog. Here’s the intro post if you want to get in on it. Official discussions began on Friday.

Curiosty: Plane Crash — And speaking of plane crashes, they crashed a plane on purpose to see what would happen to the crash test dummies on board. This one I will be watching. It airs tonight on the Discovery Channel.

“Drinking the Bottom Shelf” on Serious Eats — “Will Gordon drinks his way through the bottom shelf of the liquor store … so you don’t have to.” I do so love this regular feature on the Serious Eats website. Some of the recently reviewed libations include Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer, Van Gogh PB&J Vodka, and Bartles and Jaymes Wine Coolers (YES!).

“The Funeral” by Band of Horses — I know the song is like 6 years old but it has certainly become the most popular TV and movie song maybe ever. Or at least lately. I heard it on the season premiere of HIMYM and then the next day when I watched Battleship. (Shut up! I liked it. Blow ‘em up alien movies are awesome.)

29 Black Street: life in a Nova Scotia seaside village: Beautiful photos, especially of the blogger’s dog, Miss Winn Dixie. Susan Black has a wonderful way of capturing the life around her. Gosh, is it gorgeous!
