What Happens at Mimi’s Stays at Mimi’s

While my niece has been at Super Brainiac Camp at an area university, she and my sister have been staying with us this week. She also celebrated her 12th birthday, which we turned into a 24 hour grand fiesta of fun. We had plans for the evening of her actual birthday so the night before we had cupcakes from Isabelle’s Curly Cakes.

After she went to sleep that night, I did some decorating, scattering these fantastic Japanese paper lanterns throughout our home. While I would like to say that placing them on the floor was a bold stroke of supergeniusousness on my part, credit goes to laziness. The process of hanging them from the ceiling would have been excruciating — I mean, really, that would have taken hours. And I love the way they look on the floor!

Knowing she would be taking a shower first thing in the morning, we filled the tub with balloons. And, although I wasn’t awake to see her reaction, my sister reports she was super surprised! Mission accomplished.

We also had special Tshirts made for all of us. My niece calls me Mimi and these shirts we saw hanging in a window in a tshirt shop in Ptown. I had them make a few for us in adult sizes as well, so we could all wear them.

Today is their last full day with us. We had a lot of fun this week (posts to come!), and tomorrow morning, they leave for home and I leave for a 2 week vacation! Weee! Weee! Weeeeeeee!
